Quick Pick:

Communism had many affects economically onto America. First, the US, Britain, and France intervened with the matters of the USSR and Nazis. Joseph McCarthy, the senator of Wisconsin, accused 205 workers of being associated with communism. From there was the evolution of McCarthyism, and thus the Red Scare. McCarthyism was more or less the act of anti-communism. Anyone accused of being involved with communism, or being a sympathizer, was subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before government or private-industry panels, committees and agencies. Most accused were government employees, those in the entertainment industry, educators or union activists.

During the Cold War, there was an Arms Race going on. The Soviet Union and the United States were almost competing to see who had the most technology. Nukes were formed, new weapons and killing methods, bombs invented. During this time the world had gone so far in technology, like never before. Men had gone into space, there were bombs that could wipe out cities, possibly countries. It was a truly terrifying time. The US had raised so many taxes, especially when Eisenhower went into office, taxes quadrupled.

cuban_missile_crisis_cartoon                                                                                   The Soviet Union was taking more and more countries. The USA, however, believed that they more out of reach than anyone else. But then The Soviet decided to take Cuba. Cuba was nearby, there were reasons to panic if one's enemy's base was near. The United States had a much larger arsenal of long-range intercontinental nuclear weapons than the Soviets who only had smaller, medium-range ballistic missiles in Turkey. The Soviet Union had a stockpiles of weapons scattered around Europe. Cuba agreed to harbor these weapons, and the United States responded by forming a sea blockade to prevent Soviet Union ships from bringing in more missiles. At the time, Castro was getting a little too extreme for Moscow, so at the last moment the Soviets called back their ships. They also agreed to remove the missiles from Cuba if the United States agreed not invade Cuba. Economiallypic

Another way communism had affected America was Vietnam. Because of China's communist state, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) fought against the US-supported Republic of Vietnam (south). Communism led the US into drastic measures. Bloody battles were held, threats to US by the Soviets, and alliances and unions being in and out of alliances. Communism Might’ve just left its scar in the US Economy.
